Well I guess I will tell the story of how my parents and I found Ike and Tina.

I have always been around cats my whole life. First Smokey (yes that is the same name as a current cat) then Scruffy, there will never be another cat like that one!!! Harriett then came along, then Ozzie. They all lived their long lives, until they had to be put down.

Anyways, when we put Harriett down, we decided to not have cats for a while. That didn't last long. The next morning my mom woke up like normal, went and gathtered the cat dishes and started to fix them breakfast. That was when she realized that for the first time in 20+years she didn't have a cat to make breakfast for. Soooo...... she asked me to do some reasearch and see if there were any cats out there that needed a home. Duh, I told her, there are always cats in need of a home like ours!!!

So I found a rescue center that was doing a pet showing at a local PetCo. We loaded up our cat carriers, just in case, and off we were. We got there early and were just looking around, when the center started to set up. They brought in cat after cat, after cat!!!! I was shocked. A large group of people started to gather around and poke and prod, snatch the first little baby kitten they saw. 20 mins later, my mom came up to me and said that there wasn't really any cats that were jumping out at her. So we were just about to leave, that was when a cat SNEEZED ON ME!!! Boogers where everywhere!!! It was so gross. I looked up and saw a small gray tabby, so just to comfort it I reached up and started to pet him, then he sneezed on me again!!! Ewwww!!! Grosss!!! I was hooked. I grabbed him and held him close!!! He was mine!!!

Then we put the papers through, and just as we were walking out the door. There was this little white paw litteraly reaching out through it's cage, for me and my dad. So we started to pet her, and she was soooo loving and affectionate!!! And she did these little summersaults when we would scratch her neck!! So again, she was ours!!!

A month or two later I decided that I just wanted to go to the shelter and look at the cats. It was a bad day for me and it always worked for me to go and visit the cats. So when I got there, I saw this little black kitten, that was jumping on it's brother while he slept. I looked down at her and said "well that's not nice!!! Lets go burn off some of that steam." So I took her into one of the rooms and from there I was again... HOOKED!! I called my mom and she said we didn't need 3 cats again, she didn't want to do that. I convinced her to just come up and look at her. So, because she was working, I put a hold on her, and both mom and dad came up the next day. Like I thought they would be they were hooked too.

Now the last cat my dad found. He and my mom were out at the fire in the backyard, when they heard a small meow, followed by another small meow. So my dad grabbed the flashlight and decided to investigate. He then found a litter of at least 2 kittens, they were all very shy and didn't come near my dad, except for one. This little black one, the runt, came right up to my dad and gave him a sniff, then quickly ran away again. The next day my dad told me about them, I yelled at him. "It's october!!! They won't survive this winter!!!" (we live in MN with -20 degree winters) "Why didn't you grab them??" I said. He told me to calm down and that the mother would take care of them. So I monitered the cats, constantly watching them over the next few days, I saw the mom only 2 times. Then I saw a cat in the street that had been hit by a car, it was dead. I never saw the mother cat again. I can only assume that it was the same cat. So I took matters into my own hands. I grabbed a can of tuna, a cat carrier, a warm sweater and some gloves. I was determined to get these cats.

After a few hours, and 3 cups of coffee later, the kittens warmed up to me. But not enough, it was getting dark, colder, and starting to snow. So even though they would let me pet them, they wouldn't let me hold them, I took advantage of that. I put the gloves on and just snatched 2 of them right up. It sounded like I was tourturing them. Ohhh the screams came from these 2 kittens, neighbors came out of their houses! That was the time I realized that there were 3 kittens not 2, 2 small black kittens and one orange tabby. The runt was the one that I didn't get right away, and now with his siblings making such a ruckus, I was sure that I wasn't going to get him now. So I left for an hour, when I came back that poor kitten was out searching for it's mom, brother and sister, shivering in the cold!!! He was soo happy to see me, he actually came running up to me and jumped up my leg. I then told my mom what I did and she told me 3 cats is her limit, no more!!! I realized that she was serious, and so I started to find homes for the kittens.

The orange tabby was adopted out first,to my ex-bf, then the bigger of the 2 black cats, to my current bf's boss. I then couldn't find a home for the last of the kittens, the runt of the litter. And he already seemed hooked on me. I was his new mom. So I decided to keep him, without my parents knowing. So for the next month I hid the cat in my room, at my BF's house, and at a friends house. He came with me everywhere, to the store, to friends houses. EVERYWHERE!!! Then Ike, Tina, and Ella started to act really weird, and my parents started to notice. They were always angry, hissing, really didn't like me. So I started to introduce Mac, as I named him, to the other cats in the house. That really didn't help, so I knew that I had to tell my parents. I couldn't do this alone.

Oh boy were they mad!!!! But they got over it, they grew to love him as much as I did.

So that is my story, sorry it was sooooooooo looooooonnnnnngggg!!!!
(it could have been longer, that was only 4 of my 6 cats!)

Cute story! I love the part about you getting the kittens and everything. When I first moved to the city we had a small shed in the back yard, and one day right before we were going to go out of town (just for the day) I heard moewing coming from the building.. There was a kitten and it was trying to come to me.. She was very young but old enough to walk good and everything. We never even saw her momma so we took her in and named her Christal.. She went missing and was gone for a few months, a neighbor said they sold her because she kept going in the street (She was sun bathing!).. What kind of people does it take to sell another persons cat?!? She was just doing what cats do!!! Of course I was only about 8 and if I had it my way she would have been indoors, but we were renting and weren't allowed to have cats inside. Sad

It's really cool
I've seen lots of cats but I was not allowed to have one and I found a kitten that was supposed to be with it's mother but the mother was not there.

Then at the end I gave the kitten to my next door neboir who just lost their dog.
