The handsome Blue Tick coon hound in some photos is Buster. He was Tessa's soul mate, they were about the same age. He had been in the shelter by himself for 2 months, we adopted him on February 25th the day before he was being put down.. He was "too old" to hunt so a hunter turned him loose in the woods to die, he had torn and tatered ears A month and a half after we adopted him we took him and Tessa on vacation in the outer banks, we drove on Corrolla beach and he admired the wild horses.. They had a BLAST!! A few days later we took him to get neutered, we dropped him off at 8:30AM after kissing and hugging him. An hour later the phone rang, it was the vet.. She said that Buster probably wouldn't make it, he had what looked to be cancer. Only one testical had dropped and it had a tumor attatched, she went in to get the other and he started bleeding very bad, his kidney and liver also looked bad.. She asked my mother if she wanted her to try and save him, she said yes. The vet tried and called back, he was loosing even more blood. He would not survive, my mother told her to put him down
We adopted Tessa on October 25th 2005, we moved a month later.. Three months after we desided to adopt another dog(Buster), it is wierd, what if we had waited just a little longer to find another dog? we wouldn't have found Buster. He would have died before we even met him, his month and a half here was the best of his life.. He was a true gentle giant. The day he died the vet reccomended looking for another dog(for my 7yo brother), I though it was way to soon and knew that he couldn't be replaced.. We looked in the shelter were we got him, they had a Redtick coon hound mix. She came in two weeks after we had adopted Buster, she was in the kennel next to Buster's, the shelter had even had her spayed.. By the SAME vet that tried to neuter Buster, and she was also about to be put down..
We adopted her (Sally), for awhile didn't think that it would work out. She was distrutive, she ruined about 5 pairs of shoes, she was constantly barking, and hand shy.. After awhile (2 months) she calmed way down. Then we started begging dad to let us adopt Skip(we saw him online), he kept saying NO.. But one day(August 24th) dad brought him home as a surprize, and as a foster...
Him and his sister had been born on a farm on December 26th 2005, they were allowed to roamfrre and were not watched after. On April 24th their mothers owner took them in and gave them up.. They were fixed and given their first shots then put up for adoption, they were snatched up right away. But Skip came back because the people that adopted him had to move.. By looking at his paper work he got his last shots the day that Buster died, the shelter Skip is from has a low cost sputer clinic attatched, the clinic is the one that we brought Buster to.. Him and Buster probably met.. Since he has been here Sally's true presonility has come out, she is allot like Buster. Now her and Skip are soul mates, Skip was afraid of everything when he first came, then he warmed up to sally, then to us..
we are hoping to adopt him .

There is a white chair in some pics.. It is stained it's called "the dog chair" because they love it. There was a week when it rained non-stop and Sally would go thru the doggie door, play in the mud then come inside and lay in it.. Coffee has also been spilt on it, it's the only thing that they have added their own touch to.. Hopfully it'll stay that way _________________ Tessa Sue, American red nose PitBeagle 8, hurricane Katrina rescue.
